Weekend {Roundup}: Thanksgiving Side Dishes

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it, so I’m trying to get a head start on finding recipes.  Here is a roundup of some slightly non-traditional variations on traditional side dishes.

Personally, I’m dying to try the Cranberry Mold (#2) because I am not a fan of actual cranberry chunks in my cranberry…and the Broccoli Casserole (#3) because it is a nice alternative to the usual Green Bean Casserole.

I actually really love Green Bean Casserole.  It is one of my all-time favorite holiday recipes.  And I like it best the traditional way, made with cream of mushroom soup and crunchy French onions.  I also crave Cranberry Jelly (the canned kind) and good ol’ Pumpkin Pie at the holidays.  Yum yum!

What are your favorite Thanksgiving dishes that you look forward to each year?

Hope this recipe roundup helps you get a head start on your holiday menu planning.

Weekend {Roundup}: Halloween Baking

Happy Halloween!

While I don’t get into scary movies or haunted houses or dressing up in costume, I can get on board with baking up cute and spooky Halloween treats.  Here’s a roundup of some great Halloween baking ideas around the Internet for your Halloween viewing pleasure.

Weekend {Roundup}: Baking with Pumpkin

The weather outside has me in the mood for some baking. Baking makes me feel cozy and warm. And what better goodies to bake with Halloween and Thanksgiving just around the corner, than pumpkin cupcakes, cookies, and bread?

Here is a roundup of baked goods made with pumpkin. The links to each recipe can be found below as well (since I know it will be hard to look at all this yummy stuff without wanting to make some for yourself).

Happy Sunday and stay warm everyone!

Weekend {Roundup}: Southern California Attractions

Right now we have visitors from out of town (actually out of state), one of whom has never been to California before. This means, we are doing a lot of sight-seeing. Every once and awhile it’s kind of fun to play tourist where you live.

I’m not sure yet which tourist spots we’ll visit, but here’s a roundup of some southern California attractions that are some good spots to take in if you are visiting the area.

Happy Sunday!

Packers tee. Check! Packers pants. Check! Brats. Check! Cooked in beer. Double check! Packers win. CHECK!!!

It was a football-filled Sunday here in our little household. Although, I have to say I wasn’t fully invested in the football (I multi-tasked and worked on making a birthday card while watching).

It’s nice to have someone else cook for me every once in awhile. Chris took care of the football food…the brats were boiled in beer with onion and then thrown on the grilled until cooked nice and thoroughly, per my liking. And they were perfect. I like mine with lots and lots of ketchup and my love opts for ketchup and Dijon mustard.

All in all, combined with a little trip to the beach yesterday, it was a nice weekend. Now off to the gym to work off these brats!
